Profiles Kylie Wakelin Banks Peninsula born Kylie Wakelin grew up on a farm and began her outdoor career at the age of 19 years where she and a friend started and ran 'Glacier Explorers' in the Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. Working on the Tasman Glacier Lake at the foot of the countries largest glacier involved spending a great deal of time in the elements, looking after clients, managing risk and experiencing the dynamics of one of natures natural phenomena. Vivien Eyers Viv grew up in North Otago and Dunedin where she was introduced to tramping and mountaineering through the Otago University Tramping Club. In the late 1970's she moved to Christchurch, completed a General Nursing course, working in various roles as a nurse for many years but later swapped to a teaching career. Sailing was the main outdoor activity in Christchurch until children arrived. Lee Ball Lee has spent the past 22 years raising a family of six children and has decided it is now "time for some outdoor adventures!" She is excited to be part of the 'Wake of Worsley' expedition team to South Georgia, bringing with her a passion and energy for new and challenging experiences. Catriona Austin Born in a wee Scottish town called Dingwall, Catriona grew up chasing deer in the Highlands. After a short career in fencing whilst at school and university she turned to the outdoors discovering mountain biking, climbing and skiing. |
